Dr. Shiva Gopal Vasishta Gives Hope to Patients with Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients have suffered for so long, but soon, this will no longer be the case. A new treatment known as high-dose immunosuppressive therapy and autologous hematopoietic cell transplant (HDIT/HCT) has been tested and proved to bring lasting solutions to this condition. The study conducted by NIH found out that a patient’s stem cells transplants have immense healing capabilities compared to MS drugs.


According to NIH research on the new treatment procedure, at least sixty-nine percent of patient who received a one-time HDIT/HCT were able to record decrease in MS progression effects, brain lesions, and relapses. The study did not stop there, NIH investigated patients in 24 clinics between the age of 26 and 52 whose MS condition was worsening despite taking MS drugs. According to the findings, HDIT/HCT was able to prevent at least seventy percent of MS cases from getting out of hand. Although HDIT/HCT still calls for further research for its intervention to be more concrete, arguably it is the most preferred treatment compared to MS drugs.
