TeenSafe Helps Parents Protect Their Children Both On and Offline

TeenSafe, founded in 2011, is a tool created for parents to help them manage their children’s phone and social media use. The tool is a subscription service and allows parents to monitor their children’s texts, see locations, and access information. This information can be accessed through their website and is encrypted so that the information is not accessible by third parties. The tool also allows parents to add multiple children to a single subscription. On TeenSafe, parents can view sent, received, and deleted texts, call logs, location history, and messages sent via third-party apps such as WhatsApp or Kik. TeenSafe has been found to help parents monitor cyberbullying, inappropriate content and online predators. It is estimated that there are over half a million predators online per day and more than half of the victims of these predators are between the ages of 12 and 15. TeenSafe helps parents protect their children from online predators and cyberbullies by allowing them to view their children’s text messages to see who is contacting them.

Recently, TeenSafe announced their plans to release a new tool that would help parents monitor their children’s driving. This tool will be called Focus by TeenDrive. The main feature of Focus is the ability to prevent texts, calls, and other alerts from coming through while driving, although emergency calls can still be placed. The new tool will also help parents know if their teenager is driving over the speed limit. Focus was created to give parents peace of mind while their child is out driving as smartphone use while driving has exceeded drunk driving in the number of teenagers killed while driving. Distracted driving causes 10% of fatal crashes among teenagers age 15-19, and someone is 23 times more likely to get into a crash when texting and driving.
