Lifetime Achievements For Robert Ivy

As an established architect, Robert Ivy has been a standard in the Mississippi art world. He accompanies a list of prolific artists as he accepts the Polk Noel Lifetime Achievement Award. This is awarded to those artists native to Mississippi which have been consistently contributing to the artistic landscape of the state. He is known as an architect, designer, editor, author, and Chief Executive Officer.

Robert Ivy’s reputation and production have always seemed to take what he is working on and excelling it to another level. When he was Editor-and Chief at Mcgraw-Hills Architectural Records, it was the most widely distributed Architectural magazine in the world. Presently, Robert Ivy is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Institute of Architects. Under Roberts guidance, the institute has seen the highest membership levels in one hundred and sixty years. This is not Robert Ivy’s first claim to high prestige awards. “Master Architect” was bestowed upon Ivy by the national fraternity Alpha Rho Chi in 2010. This title has been given only to the great architects of this world. His work has spread around the globe and influenced many chapters of his organizations to open worldwide. For the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters to award Ivy with this lifetime award, brings the root of his success back home.

Many other disciplines such as performing, writing, visual arts, and craft have created this small prestigious group. Robert Ivy has now set a precedent for the architectural world by being the first architect to be awarded this honor. Writing and editing have also attributed to Roberts lifetime career. He wrote “Fay Jones,” the only book chronicling his entire portfolio of work. Robert was a student and apprentice of Frank Llyod Wright and has become the most influential architects of the late twentieth century. Robert Ivy received Bachelor’s degree from University of the South, and his masters from Tulane University.
